Mocktails are a great way to explore new flavors
We all have our favorites when it comes to alcoholic drinks, but sometimes it is nice to try something new. Mocktails, like rum mocktails with Ritual rum, are a great way to explore new flavors and maybe find your new favorite drink.
The popularity of mocktails has been rising, and there are a lot more non-alcoholic alternatives than ever. Even better, many of the alternatives are very low in calories without compromising flavor.
A small step towards being more healthy
Mocktails might not seem like a big thing, but for some people, it’s a small step towards being healthier.
If you are trying to cut down or quit alcohol altogether, mocktails with alcohol alternatives like Ritual Zero Proof Rum are a great way to ease the transition. It can also be a good way to impress your friends at a party without feeling left out. They’re also great if you are expecting and craving the flavors of a traditional cocktail.
If you are not a heavy drinker, mocktails can be a great alternative. They’re a great way to socialize without feeling like you’re missing out.
You don’t need to feel guilty about having a hangover the next day
Another negative associated with alcohol is the dreaded “morning after”. We’ve all been there – waking up with a splitting headache, a bad case of the ickies and feeling like a tumor is growing in your stomach. Trust me, it’s not something you want to experience again.
Mocktails are non-alcoholic, so they won’t give you a hangover. If you are going out with friends to a bar or a party where alcohol is served, you have the choice to go for a mocktail instead. This way, you can still enjoy the occasion without getting drunk and having to deal with a hangover.
They’re non-alcoholic so you can still enjoy the occasion without getting drunk
If you want to have fun with friends without getting drunk, mocktails are a great way to do so. This way, you won’t be pressured to drink alcohol if you don’t want to, but you’ll still be able to enjoy the occasion. You can also avoid the unwanted side effects of alcohol such as a bad hangover and a nasty headache.
They are also nice to wind down your day and enjoy a beverage. There’s even a new trend of alcohol alternatives that have additional health benefits or that act as nootropics, which can help you relax or energize you in ways that are actually beneficial to the body.
Ritual Zero Proof Rum Review
Ritual started coming up on my Facebook feed some months ago.
There are many reasons you could choose to skip alcohol, but one reason alcohol substitutes have become so popular is that they tend to be fairly low in calories. Ritual rum is only 10 calories an ounce!
The first one I tried from Ritual’s line was Ritual Zero Proof Rum.
I’ve always been a fan of rum and Coke, so having an alcohol-free alternative appealed to me.
Ritual rum provides a nice stand-in when you don’t want to imbibe. The flavor is rich and a bit sweeter than traditional rum, but it embodies the flavor of rum fairly well.
There isn’t much of a burning sensation, particularly compared to Ritual’s other options (the Ritual tequila in particular).
I would say it isn’t as spiced as many spiced rums, but it seeks a middle ground between spiced rum and gold rum. This does make it a bit more adaptable to many types of mocktails.
I’ve gone through bottles of Ritual Zero Proof Rum and have yet to finish one bottle of Ritual Whiskey, if that tells you anything.
Dhōs Orange is another zero-proof liquor that is similar to the flavor of Triple Sec. I reduced the Dhōs Orange in the recipe because it was a bit strong at 1 oz.

Summer Ruby Punch
Description
This cocktail was made with what I had on hand, but I thought it came out quite well!
A plain seltzer would probably work just fine, or you could try it with a cherry-flavored seltzer or even lemon-lime soda (omit the stevia). You could also leave out the Dhos Orange, but I really think it adds a lot to the flavor.
It reminds me a bit of sour gummy candy, both sweet and just a little tart. It would be lovely to sip while lounging by the pool.
Of course, you can make this punch with traditional rum and triple sec!
